Adult Good Service Awards Criteria

 

The purpose of these Awards is to recognise and value the voluntary contribution of an Adult Member to Girl Guiding.

*MANDATORY REQUIREMENTS THAT AN ADULT MEMBER MUST MEET TO BE CONSIDERED FOR AN AWARD:

  • consistently models and lives by the Girl Guide Promise and Guide Law
  • consistently abides by the GGA Code of Conduct
  • consistently fulfills the requirements of their volunteering role

BANKSIA

Bar to Banksia

Unit, District, RegionMeets all mandatory requirements*

Demonstrates a commitment to her role

Encourages the development and growth of Guiding through sharing skills and information with others

Demonstrates a willingness to extend her support across the District or Region via participation in a range of Guiding activities and local community events

Continued good service meeting the criteria for the Banksia Award

WATTLE

 

Bar to Wattle

Unit, District, Region, StateMeets all mandatory requirements*

Demonstrates a commitment to her role/s
Contributes, through her overall involvement, to the promotion and development of Guiding
Develops and uses her skills to have a positive impact

Supports and assists in developing the skills of other members in the District, Region or State

Works well in a team

Continued good service meeting the criteria for the Wattle Award

FLOWERING GUM

 

Bar to Flowering Gum

To include work in a Region or StateMeets all mandatory requirements*

Demonstrates effective governance, management and/or organisational skills

Demonstrates effective communication skills with the ability to positively influence others

Demonstrates outstanding teamwork skills

Shares her management expertise and/or knowledge to promote and develop Guiding within a Region or State

Continued good service meeting the criteria for the Flowering Gum Award

EMU

 

 

 

Bar to Emu

To include work in a State or NationallyMeets all mandatory requirements*

Acts as a positive role model to Members, volunteers/supporters and the community

Supports in developing the capability of the Guiding membership

Contributes to the development of State/National policies or projects to benefit Guiding

Contributes at governance, management or organisational level to help drive change across Guiding

Demonstrates the ability to work with and build/lead teams

 

Continued good service meeting the criteria for the Emu Award

GREY KANGAROO

 

To include work in a State or Nationally. May include work with WAGGGSMeets all mandatory requirements*

Acts as a positive role model to Members, volunteers and supporters

Makes a major positive contribution at a Management / Strategic / Governance / Operational level within State or National Guiding or WAGGGS

Leads and/or implements change within her appointed area of responsibility within a State or Nationally or has contributed substantially to the work of WAGGGS

Is proactive in developing the capacity of Guiding using a wide range of skills to make a positive impact

Builds strong and effective teams

RED KANGAROO

 

To include work Nationally or within WAGGGSMeets all mandatory requirements*

Is a positive role model to those involved with Girl Guiding

Leads at a Strategic or Governance level within National or World Guiding delivering positive outcomes

Leads significant change in building the capacity of Guiding Nationally or within WAGGGS

Engages with external organisations at a National level to deliver positive benefits for Guiding

Provides tangible support across all State Girl Guide Organisations as required

SILVER KANGAROO

 

To include work within WAGGGSMeets all mandatory requirements*

Acts as a positive role model to Members in Australia and within WAGGGS

Gives sustained service to World Guiding

Demonstrates exceptional skill in leadership within the World Guiding sphere delivering outstanding outcomes

Provides tangible support to WAGGGS which demonstrates a positive impact

Work recognised by WAGGGS Member Organisations or affiliated group(s)

Please note:

Any reference to a Member in the Adult Awards system is referring to an Adult Member. An Adult Member of Girl Guides Australia or a State Girl Guide Organisation is aged eighteen years or over, lives their life as a female and satisfies the requirements for membership.

The Girl Guides Australia Adult Good Service Awards system seeks to recognise the positive voluntary contribution of Adult Members regardless of their role or position. It is therefore not limited to Leaders, Managers and Trefoil Guild Members. An Award may be considered and/or presented to a Member within 12 months of her Girl Guide membership ceasing.
